New Focus

I'm now mostly a retired meteorologist but still love to watch Utah weather. I will continue to update the Utah weather cams and Utah weather links pages and occasionally post Utah weather related information. I'm spending more time enjoying Utah snow skiing, cycling, hiking, and water skiing.

  1. A fun question for you, Nordic Valley in the Ogden Valley has plans for massive expansion of housing as part of a resort expansion. Can you consider a theoretical vehicular traffic amount that would make the Ogden Valley air quality similar to a Salt Lake Valley mid-inversion. Or are there more favorable meteorological conditions to prevent such pollution concentration in the Ogden Valley?

    1. When the population density in the Ogden valley approaches 1,500 people per square mile (similar to the Salt Lake Valley) then I can see the air quality being similar but likely still not as bad. The Ogden valley is prone to inversions but being a little higher in elevation helps a little, they take a little longer to from and will be quicker to break.
