The next storm is forecasted to move into Utah on Wednesday afternoon/night and continue at times into Thursday evening before ending in most all areas except south of the Great Salt Lake where a lake band may set up. As of now plan on 2-10" of snow for the Wasatch front valley/benches, 6-12" for the Wasatch Mountain valleys and southern Utah mountains, and 12-24" for the Wasatch Mountains/Uinta's/Central mountains.

A storm will move into Utah this afternoon from south to north and continue into the day on Tuesday. Plan on 6-12"+ of snow in most all of the Utah mountains above 7,000 ft, 2-5" in the northern Utah mountain valleys, and trace-4" for the Wasatch Front valleys/benches. Plan on a general 2-5" of snow for the Wasatch Mountains today/tonight, 4-8" Uinta mountains. Will also be string winds with gusts to 50+ in the valleys and 80+ for the mountain peaks.

A bigger storm is projected on Monday into Monday night with 8-12"+ for the Wasatch Mountains.

Went south - second piece of storm

Bulk of the energy with this storm went into central and southern Utah with less snow than expected in northern Utah. The second piece of the storm is forecasted to bring snow back to northern Utah between 5pm and midnight with a brief lake band setting up focused on the west side of Salt Lake Valley, Tooele valley, and into parts of Utah Valley. Plan on another 1-3" for the Wastach Mountains on Sunday night, 2-4" where the lake band sets up, outside of the lake band only another tr-1" is projected for the northern Utah valleys/benches.

A good looking storm is expected to move into northern Utah after 6 pm on Saturday with the first wave mostly ending along the Wasatch Front by 8 am on Sunday. With the first wave plan on 1-3" for the northern/southern Wasatch Front valleys/benches with 2-5" for the Salt Lake Valley, 3-6" for the mountain valleys, 5-9" for the Park City/northern Utah resorts, and 8-12" for the Cottonwoods. Look for a break in the snow during the day on Sunday with snow showers filling back in after 5 pm on Sunday and continuing into Sunday night. As of now a convergence zone (Lake effect) is forecasted to set up on Sunday night that could bring another 2-5" of snow for the Salt Lake valley and 8"+ for the Cottonwoods.

Mainly central/southern Utah storm

The incoming storm this afternoon is expected to mainly hit central/southern Utah with 5-12" of snow for the mountains above 7,000 ft by the time it ends on Tuesday afternoon, 2-5" in the valleys above 5,000 ft. For northern Utah plan on trace-4" of snow for the Wasatch Mountains, trace-1" of snow in the valleys south of the point of the mountain with 0-1/2" northern valleys.

Disorganized weak storm

A disorganized and rather weak and slow moving storm storm will move into Utah this afternoon/evening with a few valley rain changing to snow showers along the Wasatch Front, most valley snow showers ending by sunrise on Thursday. Mainly dry weather is expected during the day on Thursday for the Wasatch Front valleys with a few lingering light snow showers at times over the Wasatch Mountains. Plan on 0-trace snow for the lower valleys, trace-1" for the benches, 1-2" for the mountain valleys, 3-5" for the Wasatch and southern Utah mountains, and 5-8"+ for the Uinta and Central Utah Mountains.

Saturday/Saturday night big storm!

Look for mountain snow to move in mainly after 12/1 am on Saturday with rain mixed in as high as 8,000 ft, rain developing in the valleys mostly after 7/8 am on Saturday then transitioning to snow in the afternoon hours with the arrival of the cold front. Snow is expected to continued at times in the mountains on Saturday night as a moist and unstable northwest flow sets up that will also allow local snow to continue in the valleys/benches. As of now plan on trace-2" in the valleys with this storm, 3-5" benches, 6-10" mountain valleys, and 11-24" for the Wasatch mountains. Sunday should be the best ski day of the year so far. Enjoy!

The second half of the first storm in the series is expected to move through this afternoon and continue through 10 am on Friday. Plan on rain in the valleys with another 5-12" snow for the Wasatch Mountains, snow mixed in as low as 4,500 ft by Friday morning. Look for a break in the rain/snow between 10am on Friday and 12am Saturday. The second in a series of storms is projected to move in on Saturday and continue into the morning hours on Sunday with valley rain changing to snow on Saturday night. Right now it looks like 14-24" of snow for the wasatch mountains with this storm, 4-8" for the mountain valleys, 3-5" for the benches, and 1-3" for the valleys.

The wasatch mountains have received 5-15" yesterday and last night with more on the way. The snow is on the heavy side and upside down which is what we need to cover the rocks but not your typical Utah powder. Temperatures ended up being to warm in the valleys and most of the precipitation fell as rain which was not expected.

The first in a series of winter storms is expected to move into Utah today as a warm front with snow at times for northern Utah, snow transitions to rain on Wednesday night into Thursday from south to north in the valleys. Through 5 pm on Thursday plan on trace-2" snow for the lower valleys along the Wasatch front from Ogden south, 2-5" for the benches, 5-10" for the mountain valleys and valleys north of Ogden, and 10-20" for the Wasatch mountains! The first storm is expected to continue Thursday night into Friday morning as the cold front moves through, a second storm is projected to move in on Saturday, and a third on Monday.
