Diving south

Most of the energy with the Tuesday night into Wednesday storm is forecasted to dive through Nevada with the bulk of the snow staying to the west and south of the Wasatch Front. As of now plan on 3-6" of snow for the Wasatch Mountains above 7,000 ft with the coming storm.

  1. Scot, I'll be in Utah next Sunday thru Wednesday. You think we'll get some Utah powder during that stretch or will we be getting cement/rain? Hoping we can get a foot or two.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  2. It does look like a slow moving trough will move through Utah/Western US on the 17th-20th, a little worried it may go a little too far south for big snow in the Wasatch. Initially the snow will be a little on the heavy side but eventually turn cold enough for typical Utah powder.

  3. We thinking feet or inches for the Wasatch?

  4. Right now it looks like 8-14" with the Saturday/Saturday night storm then 3-6" more inches on Sunday/Sunday night. This storm is still a long ways off but will hope for the best.

  5. Is confidence increasing or decreasing for a direct hit from this storm?

  6. Very confident of a trough moving in Saturday night or Sunday, still not sure about a direct hit for the Wasatch.

  7. What are you thinking Chipman? Wasatch Snow Forecast is hyping this storm up bigtime. Think it lives up to the hype?

  8. It is a big storm but it is not coming in from the right direction initially for classic cottonwood canyon snow, second half of the storm will be better for the cottonwoods. Will post my initial quick thoughts soon.
